A Mid-Century Modern masterpiece
This fantastic and unique Mid-Century Modern masterpiece is located in one of Napa’s oldest neighborhoods.
The home was built by a Mare Island engineer by the name of Jack Hillmer who together with his wife, lived on the property for a very long time, following the sun’s locations throughout the year to take maximum advantage of Passive Solar.
Very forward-thinking for the early to mid-1950s. It is constructed of concrete, old-growth redwood, and glass. Hillmer actually designed a ‘warm floor’ system, pumping warm water through the floors for radiant heat.
The current owners were able to rehabilitate and reuse the original warm floor system. With only minor changes to the interior, this house is 90% original and truly a structural work of art. The house sits on roughly an acre with a swimming pool in the back. It can be rented for modest group events or corporate retreats.
