Landmarks Holiday Gingerbread Contest
Celebrate the holiday season with Napa County Landmarks’ gingerbread contest, presented in partnership with the Napa County Library! Enter individually or as a group, have fun with the design, and join us in celebrating the architecture, culture, and creativity that make Napa unique. Free to enter!
Sweetest Spirit Award – for the most heartfelt, joyful, or imaginative entry. Best Fixer Upper – for the gingerbread creation that may not get a feature in a design magazine, but absolutely wins our hearts. People’s Choice Award – The community gets the final say! Library visitors can vote for their favorite gingerbread creation, whether it’s a masterpiece of architectural design or a delightfully unique confection. Voting closes on December 11th. Drop off: Dec. 5 (Saturday) at the Napa County Library Main Branch in Downtown Napa (580 Coombs Street). Check the library hours before you head over. Text/email us if you need to make other arrangements (see registration page for contact information).
Display! Dec. 7–13. Bring your friends and family to the library to check it out! Public voting begins!
Judging: A panel of community judges will review all entries and the winners will be announced before our Holiday Home Tour on Saturday, December 12. Each winning entry will receive a $100 gift certificate for a local Napa establishment.
Pickup: Dec. 14-15. Entries must be picked up by 8pm. Any houses not picked up by this time may be discarded.
Materials & Guidelines
- Designs inspired by Napa County’s historic landmarks, architecture, and local character are encouraged but not required. All creative gingerbread designs are welcome!
- You supply the materials and get creative! Include some gingerbread or gingerbread-like components, but all edible elements are welcome: cookies, grahams, crackers, pretzels, candies, cereal, frosting, etc.
- Internal supports such as cardboard or paper are allowed.
- Visible elements of the house should be mostly edible (not including base). Items set around the house may be inedible. Houses will be viewed from all angles.
- Limit one entry per person/group.
- Build and deliver your structure on a sturdy base measuring no bigger than 24”x24.”
- Write your creation name, team name/personal name, email, and phone number on a piece of paper or index card and tape it to the bottom of the base.
- Kits and pre-made gingerbread are allowed.
Winners Announced
Winners will be announced on Saturday, December 12, before the Napa County Landmarks’ Holiday Home Tour.
Note: We’ll treat your creation with care, but once entries are delivered to the library, they will be displayed in a public space and may experience handling, movement, or damage.
