The Napa Valley Yacht Club started as a community of boaters at the Napa Valley Marina, officially forming as a club in 1987, taking over facilities from the older Napa Boat Club, and became a hub for river recreation, promoting boating, social events, and community, growing from a small group of founders to a recognized organization known for its camaraderie and waterfront lifestyle in wine country. The Boat club has it’s history from the 1930s but membership dwindled until 1987 when the NVYC was organized and merged with the Napa Boat Club. In 1987, there were 44 charter families and that has grown to over 120 today.

The Napa Valley Yacht club prizes it’s stewardship of the Napa River and involvement with the local community. Our charter is:
• Foster and encourage yachting and recreational boating.
• Promote and increase the knowledge and efficiency of its members and others in the science of
navigation and the art of handling, operating, and maintaining cruisers, yachts, and other
watercraft.
• Protection and enhancement of the Napa River.
• Promote the social interests and pleasures of its members.
