Completed in 2009, the Yountville Town Center was designed by Siegel & Strain Architects in collaboration with landscape architects John Northmore Roberts & Associates. It combines a new Community Center with renovated civic buildings including the Community Hall, Post Office, and Sheriff’s office. The new community center building contains a library, arts rooms, teen space, and recreation hall. The design draws on Napa Valley’s rural vernacular with simple gabled roof forms, wood siding, and deep porches framing a recessed Town Square Plaza. Sustainable features such as raised bio-filtration planters, geothermal wells beneath parking areas, and landscaping that integrates floodplain vegetation with wooded uplands reflect both ecological sensitivity and regional character.

More than a functional civic campus, the Town Center serves as a gathering “front porch” for the Yountville community. The plaza provides flexible space for art installations and community events, anchored by features such as an outdoor demonstration kitchen and public gardens. A former roadbed was transformed into a garden to calm traffic and define the square. Recognized with LEED Platinum certification and design awards, the Town Center has become a focal point in Yountville’s efforts to foster a more walkable, community-oriented downtown.
