The St. Helena Carnegie Library, completed in 1908, was funded by a $7,500 grant from Andrew Carnegie and designed by Napa architect William Corlett. Between 1883 and 1929, Andrew Carnegie funded the construction of 1,689 public libraries across the U.S., promoting access to knowledge through architecturally distinctive civic buildings. One of the few Carnegie libraries executed in the Mission Revival style, the building features curvilinear gable ends, semi-circular arched windows, and a red tile roof. In 1978, the building was converted to a community center. The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
