Join us for a look inside a circa-1906 Napa home and more than a century of everyday life lived within its walls. This is a free event, but donations are encouraged and gratefully accepted to support Napa County Landmarks’ non-profit historic preservation mission.
Built shortly after B Street was subdivided, 1614 B Street was one of several similar homes constructed in the neighborhood during that era. Its early residents included W.O. and Amelia Pardee Stewart, whose son was born while the family lived here. In 1920, Italian immigrant Louise Scolatti purchased the house and made it her home for the next 43 years.
Kara Brunzell and Phil Barber moved here with their four daughters in 2003. Over the past 23 years, they have gradually adapted and rehabilitated the house through everything from a major kitchen and bathroom renovation to seismic retrofitting, porch restoration, new landscaping, and an outdoor fireplace.
Come see how a 120-year-old Napa house has changed, survived, and continued to work as a family home across generations — and hear about the realities of taking on two decades of old-house projects.
And a little Old House Club icebreaker: If 1614 B Street could talk, what would you ask it? Come with a question for the house and use it as an icebreaker with your new old-house friends. Historical, architectural, practical, or whimsical questions are all welcome.
Raise a glass, meet fellow old-house enthusiasts, and spend a moment with a home that has truly been loved.
