DESIGNTHIS! began in 1996, when Los Angeles creatives Kim Shaeffer and Amy Predmore traded city life for Napa Valley. They saw a unique opportunity: wineries were producing world-class wines, but their branding and systems weren’t keeping pace.

Both had been shaping their creative paths since high school—Kim in a print shop, learning the craft of production and the power of visuals, and Amy through her self-published gymnastics zine, discovering how design, writing, and technology could connect people. Their shared drive to build something of their own sparked the idea for a studio that could help brands not just look better, but work smarter.

That vision has guided them through nearly three decades of work, from those first creative projects to long-standing partnerships with Napa brands like Fantesca Estate & Winery, Napa Humane, Chateau Montelena, Laird Family Estate & Winery and Bouchaine Vineyards. They’ve also been integral in evolving the branding of Napa River Inn, Voices, Napa Community Housing, Justin-Siena High School, and Mentis.
