The Calistoga Inn was founded in 1989 by Rosie Dunsford, who was also the founder of the famous ‘Rosie’s Cafe’ in Tahoe City. Rosie was an incredible cook and perfected the art of serving ‘home cooking at its finest’. The most significant change Rosie made to the Calistoga Inn was to relocate its “white tablecloth” dining from the inside to the outside. She promoted the concept of “al fresco dining” and to this day the Calistoga Inn is known as an outdoor destination restaurant. After graduating from college, her son, Michael Dunsford, joined her as the General Manager, the title he retains to this day. In 2019, Rosie and Michael invited Michael’s life partner, Lindsay Faith Weinhold, to join them in the family business. Since Rosie’s passing in 2023, Michael and Lindsay Faith continue the tradition of carrying the torch and serving the community in this long established institution.
The Calistoga Inn has gone through many iterations over the years, as well as having survived several fires and extensive property renovations. It is also home to Napa Valley Brewing Company, the oldest microbrewery in Napa Valley, founded in 1987.
