Eleanor & Francis Ford Coppola:
Inglenook Winery

In 1975 the Coppolas acquired more than 1500 acres of the historic Inglenook property, including the Niebaum home, and named it the Niebaum-Coppola Estate. Heublein, Inc., however, was able to purchase the remaining 94 acres, the winery, and the Inglenook brand, and began making lower quality wines under the Inglenook label. That portion of the property and the brand passed through several hands until 1995 when the Coppolas were able to buy the remaining acreage and winery, which they renamed Rubicon Estate Winery. The Inglenook name, however, remained under other ownership, separated from its historic estate. In 2011 they were finally able to acquire the Inglenook Brand from The Wine Group, reuniting one of the most famous names in wine to its historic estate. After 36 years of wandering, the Inglenook name is back home.
