“Legacies of Long Ago Napans – The Mid-Century Modern Mystique” course’s focus is more than May’s official designation as historic preservation month. Actually, the more important prong of this inspiration is the recent demolition of the mid-century modern style Chrysler-Jeep Auto Dealership building at 333 Soscol Avenue, Napa. The razing of this rare local example of the “Googie” architectural style was the primary motivation for the current historic preservation action being taken by NCL.
